yep, it finally happened, my computer is dead. first the sound card, then both usb ports, and then the ethernet port.....all good warning signs that perhaps i should think about saving some of my files....did i ???? no....

then i get a screen that says....insert boot disc into drive A....huh??? apparently, there is some green disc that was sent when i bought the thing 4 YEARS AGO!!!! it could be anywhere...i have boxes of shit scattered all over the country..

and our computer guy at work says that even if i use the boot disc to start it up, there is a good chance that my hard drive is fried...

so, i ordered me a brand new laptop from gateway. it is cool. did ya know that cd burners are pretty much standard now? just trying to get used to the touch pad instead of a mouse.

oh..and when i first turned it on, had to "name it"....actually give it a name in case i decide to put it on a network....

it's name is "GivenToFly"....hahahahaha....get it? it is a laptop, so it will be travelling with me....and i am definately one who is sometimes given to fly...usually with the assistance of an airplane:rolleyes:

So that's pretty close to my story of late... only replace "gateway" with "dell." And, having had the hard drive die once before, I knew that it probably wouldn't work to insert the disc... tried it anyway, and found I was right. BUT... I like my new laptop. It's fun! and I can lay back in bed with it in my lap. My room has been rearranged in such a way as to bring the phone line and printer closer to my bed to encourage my laziness. ;) And the fact that my bed aims me at the 24" tv i just got myself is pretty nice too. hehe I've made my room my absolute comfort place. hehe

Sorry for losing the files, but congrats on the new computer.
