I'm watching the snow fall, and Im thinking about taking a "hookey" day tomorrow. But I don't know if I really should. Work was horrendous this afternoon and Im not feeling too well right now. My back hurts really bad from what I do all day, and I almost lost it with everyone's repetitive whining this afternoon.

I got insulted 3 times today(by 3 different people, in front of others) and was left embaressed all 3 times. The CEO of all people made an inappropriate comment to me, about my body when I was refilling the paper drawer of the photocopier, and my boss inadvertantly insulted my work ethic to my face. Another co-worker embaressed me in front of my friends about a project I was helping her with.

We're being evaluated by the state all week for our medical practices and guidelines and I can understand that its stressfull, but god damn, I got shit on so much today!

I'm weighing the pro's and con's of taking a "day". The angel on my right side says "go to work" and the devil on the left says "take the day". :(

I really want to mention to my supervisor about what happened with the CEO, but they both kiss each others asses, and she won't think anything of it. This is the second time he's made a comment to me about my body, and its pissing me off. I even heard him pass a comment on to a 17 year old girl in the cubicle next to me asking her if she was born in the jeans that she was wearing......DISGUSTING!! FROM A CEO!!! YICK!

I'd first of all take the day off...call it a mental health day....we all need those

secondly...tell someone about the CEO...don't let the pig get away with that bullshit..it'll just get worse...trust me...I've been there done that

Hey Michelle

Of course everyone knows about my "weight issues" around here, and how much it affects me, but he makes comments about it, even though they may seem harmless. He calls me "skinny" but I sense a derogatory feeling to it. Honestly, I don't know how to take it. It could be his sense of humor, but today it was just too obvious.

I had torn off the paper wrappers while I was bending on the floor and some came off in bits and pieces, so while I was picking them all up he goes "hey skinny.....why'd ya open it like that? Do you like giving yourself a challenge skinny?" I stood up and I ask him "what do you mean by that?" and he just walked away. The first time he said that to me was a few months ago when I was carrying an armful of charts to an employee's desk, and my shirt was kind of riding up on the side where you can see some of my flabby parts, but I just took it as a joke because yeah I can laught at myself at times.

I hate men....no check that...I hate men who think that just because they are who they are, that they can say whatever the hell they feel like and got get any shit back.

all the more reason to not let him get away with it..if your supervisor won't listen...then go to your supervisor's supervisor...or, if it's easier somehow...go to the ceo and tell him point blank that you don't appreciate his form of "humor" and you'd appreciate it if he wouldn't call you any nicknames in the future...that you have a name and you prefer to be called your correct name in a professional setting

if he has any brains at all...he'll know a lawsuit could be pending and he'll stop

He doesn't even know my name, even though he's asked me to take care of some business matters for him. He's gotta ask people what my name is. Isn't that sad?

We've got a sexual harrasment poster up on the HR bulletin board in the kitchen, I'll read that and see all the info. Maybe I can make an annonymus report.

you can....but it'll make more of an impact and be more believable if you do it in person

go to HR...tell them your story...they'll set him straight right away...trust me...no company wants to deal with a harrassment claim
the bottom line is...do NOT let him get away with it..YOU have done nothing wrong...so don't be scared or embarrassed to stop him from being such a pig

an asshole is an asshole, regardless of education,
pedigree or job title.....if this is standard
operating procedure for this CEO, he's walking a fine
line, and has been for years....his time's up.
what he's doing/said is simply inappropriate and
not nice. joking or not, it's not right.
last time i checked, making a comment regarding
an associate's body/personality/appearance
in such a way that it is perceived offensive
or insulting is grounds for harrassment.
whether you want to pursue that angle is
really your call. you have a right to work in
an environment that you're comfortable/safe in.
if you aren't, you need to say something.
the burden of proof will fall on you and if
there's no record or recall that you voiced
your displeasure, it will be harder to prove.
it's a free country and you have every right
to respond to a comment or situation that
makes you feel ill at ease.

document what happened, literally write
down what happens, when it happens, the
date, time, location......what he said,
what you said, who was around to witness it.
let your supervisor know. ask to have a copy
put in your file. explain you're offended by
his comments. do not let him get away with
this because it will continue and it will get
worse.

good luck, cara...
take the day off tomorrow...
i agree with buannan... ;)

that's fucked up cara. i would go to him directly. let him know that his 'humorous' comments aren't too humorous to you and you'd like them to stop (be specific). not only will he hear it from you directly (and not a partial story from HR), but you might gain a bit more respect from him as well...

Thats true. The little shit probably feeds off the passiveness..if thats even a word. HAHA.

I've documented on paper what he said to me yesterday, and when and if it happens again, my mouth will open, and I'll be sending this paper to my direct supervisor.

Hell yeah I did. :)
I'm just waiting for the bathroom to free up so I can finish drying my hair. I'm getting ready to go out with my camera and take some black and white shots of the snow.

Taking a ride down to the Lighthouse and some piers, so it should some great shots today.

Hope you're all doing well. :)

yes definitlely report it......

you would think people would know better than to do shit like that these days, if they want to keep their job and not get sued

also, maybe talk to the other girl he made a rude comment to, as well, and see if she'll say something too.. and find out how often he really DOES do that...

power in numbers, you know...

Gad damn is COLD COLD COLD.

I just got back from the lighthouse and it must've been 1 degree out there, but with the wind, it had to be about -30. Got some good shots though, haha, so I guess it was worth it. :)

Time for some cocoa. Yummy, chocolate mint. :D

Believe me, my female justice radar will be on high alert in the coming weeks for anything said or seen.

Now to make my mental day complete, Im going shopping!
See ya!

I wish you should have Michelle, maybe you would have stopped me fron buying so much!....I just spent $220 on clothes. Lane Bryant is so G-darn expensive...I miss my associate discount so much, but thank god for coupons. With all the coupons I wound up spending $170. Still alittle steep, but I just felt like splurging. :)

I talked to my friend Shannon today, she's heavy set so she knows what Im going through. I asked her if he ever made that kind of comment to her, and she said she hears it all the time. And she feels the same way I do about it.."Are ya being complimentary, or just being an asshole?".

Work was harsh today.. I had to call my doctor in the middle of the day and she cant see me till February...I dont know if my back can wait that long. I need a chiropractor. It took me 6 and a half hours to put up the files that people took out yesterday. That just ain't right. :(
