i know most of your are NOT eagles fans...although some of you are.
i have been a huge fan since about 90, although before i always paid attention and watched a few games, even played at a coupla games with the marching band during highschool.
tomorrow is so huge, guys. i feel sort of like i felt the few days before going to a pearljam concert...that sweet anticipation, knowing that its gonna be so much fun...but with an added overwhealming feeling of dissapointment lurking somewhere just to the left of the future...you know what i mean? UGH every philly fan knows this feeling. we have been here so many times before. its so damm hard to let my heart get sucked into it (although i have been wearing various pieces of my eagles wardrobe all week).
yesterday, i allowed myself to actually feel it...to actually imagine what it would be like as the seconds tick away from the fourth quarter game clock and the eagles are winning by 14 points. OHMYGAWD! what a great feeling that is. at all the schools around here, yesterday was eagles green day...all the kids and teachers wore their or their parents eagles shirts/hats/garb....call after call to the morning sports talk show were classes of kids singing the eagles fight song....the top news story all day were the eagles...fans booing the packers as they got off their bus into their hotel...pep rallys...various people singing the eagles fight song...the long snapper for the eagles snapping a football into a round disc of wisconson cheese...retired eagles wishing they were putting the pads back on...people getting drunk and cheering and hootin and hollering.
its cool
its fun
and i think of my neighbor who is battling lymphoma and has been getting more bad news then good lately who is a HUGE eagles fan and i think about how cool it would be for him to have the eagles win the superbowl. you know, not that it would take away his pain or make his illness go away. but for a few days, everything is just better. everyone has a smile on their face. you can forget, just for a bit, the terrible shit of life and just bask in the glory of a big win, a great play,a last minute interception.
im there.
my heart will be broken if they lose.
the eagles just have to win this year.
i love football.
:)
go eagles!!

there is a big article in the inquirer today about that whole debacle.... http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/news/magazine/daily/
its pretty interesting.
anywho, if they werent playing the eagles i would be rooting for the packers. they are on my next tier of 'teams i like'. but, team of destiny. puhlease. they won the big dance in the past coupla years. their really sick fans got a chance to feel that awesome feeling of a superbowl win not too long ago. we havent been there since i was in highschool and we lost!

i am an eagles fan... and i definitely know that feeling you are talking about
and i am pretty sure they are gonna lose...
i let myself get so wrapped up in the flyers a few years back when they were up 3-0 on those devils and i thought for sure we were going to the stanley cup and then the lost four straight and i was devastated...
i dont let myslef get that wrapped up anymore, and i am so fed up with the flyers that i dont even watch them anymore, and i used to not miss a single game....
i like the eagles but like other philly teams they will let us down again...
no westbrook, maybe no troy vincent...
they may squeak one out this weekend... but ultimately it isnt gonna happen...
sorry...

Up until now the ice bowl is Dominic, but New England has been in a deep freeze since Wednesday, below zero everyday, with strong winds. The winds are somewhat calmer today, but it is an 8:00 start tonight, and Boston has been setting record low temps for almost 3 days now, so it should be extremely frigid. I heard on the news the red cross is going to be at the game because they are anticipating cold related problems tonight. It is so cold I probably would not go to the game unless I was offered a luxury box!!!:P

Jeremy Roenick is a show off who can't back up his words with wins(when it comes to the Devils). Don't really like Amonte either. I used to really respect Ken Hitchcock as a coach, and thought he was a really good guy, but since his coming to Philly he's been a dick. Hell, I don't even like the Flyers announcers. Steve Coates is an annoying little twerp, haha. Must be something in the Philly water. :)

The Colts are playing well, but in the past few years of the playoffs, a good defense beats a good offense. Of course I am biased saying this because I live in New England, but the Pats have won 13 games in a row, are undefeated at home this season, it is going to be really cold again this weekend, and the Colts are a different team on natural grass(they are not as speedy). Should be a great game though....my prediction is Pats and Eagles in the Superbowl.

Yes Chris, they were. But in my opinion, the Pats have superior coaching and a defense that the Rams could only wish they had. I would much rather see New England in the underdog role like they were two years ago when they won the SuperBowl, but nonetheless, I think they are the favorite right now...well, at least from the AFC's perspective. :P
